How Much Should I Tip?

Everyone at Tetu works very hard to give you the best experience possible. Tipping is discretionary, but here are some guidelines.

Guides: suggested tip $45-60 per day/ per person
Dining Room/ Housekeeping*: suggested tip $25-30 per day/ per person
*This also covers kitchen staff, chefs, and laundry
PLEASE NOTE: It is suggested that all tips be in cash, and given directly to our staff.

What is Tetu’s Alcohol Policy?

At Tetu, we’re happy to offer you a complimentary cocktail or two at dinnertime. If you’d like additional alcohol, please bring your own. (See the packing checklist on the following page for import details.) Guests are also responsible for bringing all other alcohol drinks.

If you would like, we can purchase beer and liquor for you in Kenora, and have it waiting in your cabin upon your arrival. Please let us know at least two weeks in advance and we will add the cost to your total bill.

IMPORTANT: Our staff and guides are NOT allowed to consume alcohol at any time during their employment at Tetu Island Lodge. Please do not offer it to them. We appreciate your understanding of this important policy.

What do I need to bring?

Passport (Required for all travel between the U.S. and Canada.)
Rain Gear (Jacket and pants.)
Waterproof shoes, boots
Weather-appropriate Clothing (The weather can change dramatically. Plan ahead and pack accordingly.)
Hat/Cap
Camera
Sunscreen, Chapstick
Insect repellent
Polarized Sunglasses
Telephone Calling Card

OTHER (IF DESIRED):
Alcohol — (Up to 40 oz. of liquor, 1.5 liters of wine, or 24 12-ounce bottles/cans of beer may be brought into Canada.)
Tobacco — (Up to 1 carton of cigarettes, 50 cigars, or (1) 200-gram can of tobacco may be brought into Canada.)
